The Essential Guide to Autumn Wedding Flowers

The Beauty of an Autumn Wedding

The beauty of an autumn wedding is the perfect context of late summer sun combined with cooling, but comfortable temperatures. However, for me, the best part of the autumn wedding season are the amazing colours available to us as wedding florists.

These colours are great for rustic themed weddings and country barn weddings. They also look beautiful in the boho and vintage wedding themes that are so popular at the moment.

Think feathers, fruits and berries; fragrant herbs and dried seed heads as fabulous additions to your autumn floral designs for that perfect autumn look.

Autumn Wedding Flowers

Traditional Browns and Oranges

Traditional autumn colours are the oranges, yellows and browns which reflect the changing colours in the natural world at this glorious time. This is a lovely warm colour palette for wedding flower designs which can be transformed by adding lots of texture with the contrasting dried poppy and scabiosa heads that can be seen in this image. Peppering the design with a smaller, lighter flower can also really lift this look.

Jewel Colours

We refer to Jewel colours as the rich, deep hues of reds, pinks, purples, blues and greens. These deep colours work so well in the fading light of autumn. They also carry a very sophisticated air and look amazing when designed in abundance. We think this is a lovely non-rustic colour palette is a beautiful choice for the autumn season.

Contemporary Orange and Blue

For a taste of the unexpected why not go for the complementary colour harmony of orange and blue? As you can see in the image, the addition of the scabiosa and eryngium creates texture for that autumn vibe whilst the refreshing colours give it a real contemporary feel. We love this colour combination.

Sunflower Yellow

When it comes to autumn, who doesn’t love the sunflower. Guaranteed to make you smile, the sunflower works perfectly in simple posies for a rustic styled wedding as pictured above. These bright blooms would make any wedding photo pop!

Autumn Vintage

The dusky pinks and vintage antique styles of wedding flowers we love so much at the moment can still work well in autumn. Just add a deeper hue of pink along with some shiny autumnal berries and textured seed heads to take this romantic look into the autumn months. Beautiful.
