How to Wear Floral Jewellery with Body Flowers for Weddings
Introduction
Hi and welcome back to our blog. Today, I am going to be talking about body flowers and fresh flowers that you can wear on your wedding day. I will explore how this trend works well with the dress designs for 2022 and the micro wedding before moving on to inspirational ideas and a ‘how to’ guide on how you could easily apply body flowers at home for any occasion.
The Micro Wedding Concept
The micro wedding has become a reality for all in the wedding industry along with the brides and grooms. As a florist, we are experiencing a greater emphasis on personal flowers, those that are held and worn by all in the wedding party. This has given us a lovely opportunity to explore and develop these designs further, looking at them in a more detailed, intimate and personal way. Weddings are always an emotionally loaded event, but they are even more so now after the unprecedented year we have just had.
Trending Wedding Dress Styles, 2022
A sneak peak at the dresses identified by the knot @www.theknot.com/content/wedding-dress-trends is preparing us to expect lots of ruffles and feathers in 2022 with floral fabrics in washed out pastel colours. One of the key trends we, at The Northern Flower Garden have noticed is the popularity of strapless and off the shoulder dresses. This would make any wedding florist smile because this area, known as the decollete, could be beautifully dressed with flowers.
Body Flower Ideas
Body flowers, unlike a bouquet, are with you throughout the day and into the night, if you want and you can choose your flowers to coordinate with your bouquet for a more unified look. It is really easy to do and this trend would work very well with the personalised micro-wedding concept.
The best flowers to choose for wearing on the body are those which fare well out of water, so we would recommend Spray Roses or Orchids for a more exotic look. They should also be fairly flat flowers so that they sit close to the skin. Any Chrysanthemum, Ranunculus or Germini (mini Gerbera) would work well.
How to Apply Body Flowers
Obviously, a florist can do this for you as part of your wedding package, but it is an easy thing to do, maybe something you would want to try at home to test it out and see if it could work for you.
Take a first aid plaster and cut it down to a size large enough to hold the flower but small enough to be covered by the flower and therefore unseen. Plasters are for most hypoallergenic and safe to use on the skin but can’t be used by people who have a specific allergy to plasters.
Cut flower directly under the calyx and apply some floral glue at the cut. We like to use Oasis Floral Adhesive in the studio. Then, apply the same amount of glue to the top of the plaster and leave both to dry for a few seconds until they become tacky. Then you want to put the two sticky surfaces together and allow it to dry as a whole.
You can be as creative as you like, adding gem stones or beads. You can add foliage or multiple flowers, it’s really up to you. Just glue them into the design as above.
When you are ready to wear the flowers, wipe the area of your skin with rubbing alcohol to ensure it is totally clean and dry thoroughly. Be careful with sensitive skin, if rubbing alcohol is too harsh, just use soap and water. The key is for the skin to be free of grease and totally dry.
Peel the back of the plaster off and stick the flower to your skin.
It can look lovely to create designs on your skin with a selection of different flowers and this is a really fun way to dress up for any occasion. A unique, alternative way to wear flowers at festivals now they are starting to reopen and a great idea to keep in mind for future proms as an alternative to the corsage.
